First-Time Users



Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is software that works with OverDrive, the service that provides digital material to libraries, to manage the Digital Rights Management (DRM) of electronic media and transfer the content to eReaders through a connected cable. Step A. How to Checkout an EPUB or PDF eBook

Using your personal computer (not a library computer) with an Internet connection:

  1. Visit the eBook section at http://plsinfo.org/ebooks to find a book
  2. Click on the desired eBook
  3. Click on the link in the library catalog Connect to this resource online you will now be redirected to the new Overdrive collection site
  4. Click Add to Cart
  5. Click Proceed to Checkout
  6. Enter library card number and PIN
  7. Click Confirm Checkout
  8. Click on the Click here to download the software needed to use this Adobe PDF eBook title.

Step B. Installing Adobe Digital Editions

  1. Scroll down and click  To download and install Adobe® Digital Editions, click here.
  2. Scroll down and click Install (if already installed the button will read Launch)
  3. Click Install again
  4. Click Yes
  5. Click Next when you see the Adobe Digital Editions Setup window
  6. Click Install
  7. Click Close
  8. Click I Agree


Step C. Account Set Up and Activation

  1. When the Setup Assistant displays, click Continue
  2. Users with Adobe ID Accounts enter their Adobe ID and password, then click Activate
  3. Users without an Adobe ID account, set up an account at this time (steps 4 - 8)
  4. Click the get an Adobe ID online link
  5. When an Internet browser opens, click Create an Adobe ID Account
  6. Follow the account creations steps and click Continue twice
  7. Redisplay the ADE Authorization setup and enter the Adobe ID and password,  then click Activate and Finished

Adobe eBook FAQ

  • Once ADE is installed and authorized/activated, these steps will not need to be repeated

  • Only 6 computers can be authorized with a single Adobe ID
  • Only 6 devices (eReaders, phones, tablets) can be authorized with a single Adobe ID
  • Error message (TOO MANY ACTIVATIONS) will display if you reach or exceed limits
