Medicare 50th Anniversary & Open Enrollment

Fall is the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period from Oct. 15 - Dec. 7. Medicare plans are announced and beneficiaries may shop around to lower their expenses and save money. Presented by HICAP – Health Insurance Counseling Advocacy Program, provides no-cost, objective and confidential counseling for Medicare beneficiaries and their families or representatives. HICAP is funded by the state and federal governments (called SHIP or State Health Insurance Assistance Program in other States.) All services are free, unbiased, and counseling confidential.

Using Greywater with Your Native Plants

A Talk by Christina Bertea

We are in our fourth year of drought and it is imperative that we conserve every precision drop of water. Greywater is a great way to re-use water from inside the house for landscape irrigation outside of the house. Come learn how you can install a simple laundry-to-landscape system and which native plants are best suited for this type of irrigation.

Christina Bertea served a 4-year apprenticeship in Local 159, Plumbers and Steamfitters and was the first woman admitted into the program.
