E. Consolidated Alcohol and Drug Program

San Mateo County has a combined Alcohol and Drug Program, and is included by the state under pilot demonstration project legislation (AB 2904) which exempts the County from maintaining separate reporting mechanisms for the two programs. This legislation was the result of a community process in San Mateo County that was supported by the alcohol and drug program contract service providers, the Alcohol and Drug Program Manager, the Drug and Alcohol Advisory Board (which at that time was two separate boards), the Director of Health Services, and the Board of Supervisors. The County is of the opinion that consolidation has worked well for San Mateo County, and discussions during the focus groups supported the continuation of this model.
