MISSION:

The Northern California Community Services Council, Inc. serves as a catalyst for community planning and problem-solving for the benefit of all the people in our comminutes.

Vision:

The Council will have the capacity to help communities respond to the needs and problems in our communities which require new analyses and approaches, collaborative problem-solving across previously unbroken organizational lines and action to put new solutions into place.

The Council's approaches focus on People, Research, and Action!

We help bring together People to create a commitment to the best solutions.

We help to Research the right information and assist in the analysis process that gives people the opportunity to make the best choices.

We help to create that Action is planned and taken to actually bring about solutions.

The tools we use to guarantee success are:

Research and analysis of community needs, resources, leadership patterns and solutions.

Information and Referral which offers the opportunity for people to access the services they need and understand the changing and emerging needs in the community.

Convening, facilitating and problem-solving skills to help create agreements about common strategies and approaches.

Implementation and management of follow-up action in conjunction with community leadership, resources and service agencies.

CORE FEATURES:

1.  Creating Teams that Build Communities: Bringing together key community leaders and all those affected by the problem to build a common vision. Using approaches that build local capacity to solve future problems on an ongoing basis.

2.  Creating New Organizational Relationships:

(a) Collaborative Leadership: Working across organizational and functional lines to ensure that the most effective solutions are found and the best leadership and organizational commitment is obtained.

(b) Use of Community Expertise:  Involving the wisdom and judgement of community  and neighborhood expertise - not just   "professionals" in the field.

(c) Reflective of the Community:  The Council and its work will foster the participation of government, business, labor, and community sectors and will involve all those affected by or involved in a problem.

3. Consulting approach: Helping communities to gather data, explore alternatives and implement solutions without requiring our long-term continued involvement.
