Text Table 3 shows the 1990 population for selected subareas and places of the county and
the projected population growth of these places for 2000 and 2010. San Mateo County is
expected to grow from 649,623 persons in 1990 to 739,150 residents in 2010, a 13.8%
increase.
The greatest amount of growth is expected in the South County subarea especially in the
community of Redwood City which is expected to add 19,165 new residents by the year 2010.
