Free2 Read and Ride
An automated book lending machine with a self-contained collection of books that may be borrowed with a library card from any public library in San Mateo County. A touch screen, similar to an ATM screen is used to display and select from over 800 books that are delivered through an opening in the front of the unit by a robotic arm. An attractive screen displays book jacket images from which to make reading selections.
The Millbrae BART station is a natural choice for this installation as 1,400,330 people exited this station in 2010.
